HISTORY

The Boudreaux Family has a long history of specializing in the illegal creation and distribution of high-value and unique weaponry. Cedric’s father, referred to by most as Lord Boudreaux, was a well-known and successful crime lord from Wales with a name recognizable through much of Europe’s underground. The Boudreaux Family consisted of Lord Boudreaux, his wife Kordelia, and six children: three girls older than Cedric, him, then two girls younger than him.Cedric grew up rather privileged and pampered. Always incredibly wealthy and tended to perfectly. He was sheltered, not often allowed to socialize with others his age and receiving private in-home schooling at his own accelerated pace. He was something of a prodigy, excelling at tinkering and mechanics, eventually following after the family trade of weapon-making and studying with his father at fifteen.When he was seventeen, Cedric’s father was arrested by a small group of heroes that had been tracking his operations for some time. Now that Lord Boudreaux was not around, rivals and others he had crossed took advantage of the vulnerability and seized everything he owned. They destroyed all of it, wrecking his property, burning even his home to the ground, and kidnapping his wife and children. They broke the Lord out of jail, just to torture him alongside his family and kill all of them.Except one. Young Cedric managed to escape from their grasp before he could be killed. As part of a twisted joke, those who were killing his family allowed him to run, claiming that their pathetic legacy must live on through him.Though Cedric was persistent — and spiteful. Driven by anger, rage, and vengeance, he fled to England and took shelter in a secret workshop of his father’s that was still intact. Over the next two years, he kicked up business of his own, manufacturing weapons rivaling his fathers in quality and selling them. He created a name for himself — Penumbra — a comeback that was spoken of in whispers through the crime world.Pops of the Shie Hassaikai had once done business with the Boudreauxs when they were at their prime and knew of their downfall. Once hearing about the survivor’s return, he suggested to Kai Chisaki that he would be a great ally, someone useful to the Yakuza. So Kai set out to recruit him. But just as friends and acquaintances heard of this rise, enemies were already plotting.When first approached by Overhaul, Cedric declined the offer to join his side. He wished not to work or gain affiliations with anyone nor did he want to go so far away from home. During their meeting, they were attacked by those who killed off his family. Chisaki took the opportunity to show off his power, leaving Cedric more than impressed.A deal was made.Overhaul helped take the lives of everyone responsible for the massacre of the Boudreauxs. Cedric moved to Japan and joined the ranks of the Shie Hassaikai as their weaponsmith — permanently. Throughout the following years, Cedric’s been loyal to Overhaul to a fault. He’s been responsible for making and maintaining all weapons of the Hassaikai, including the weaponization of Trigger and the quirk-cancelling serum of Eri’s quirk, developing guns, bullets, and other weapons made for such.Now, often tasked with building and upgrading Chisaki’s prosthetics, he deems that his work is more important than ever.

SMOG
Cedric’s quirk is a form of typhokinesis - the ability to manipulate and generate smoke at will. While able to generate his own thick black smoke, he’s also able to manipulate smoke that he does not create as well. His own leaves behind a sooty black residue, secretes at a slow rate, and alters his mental state. The more of his own smoke he creates, the more unstable he becomes. After years of harnessing this power, he’s able to solidify smoke, usually used for containment. Manipulation of smoke has granted him a sort of ‘smoke sense’, where he can sense the location of things within his smoke, even when he cannot see.
